and we do not need to express how much we feel for each other

its just you and me

Convocation was a wonderul experience. Glad to have finally walked my first big step in life. Uploaded some pictures with my friends and schoolmates of Bachelor with honours in Music(blue), Diploma Music(Red), and Diploma Music Teaching (Yellow). Will never forget my friends in school man. Especially my classmates angela, williana, audrey, gabriel and sebas. And of course laurel my best buddy in school and jeremy, christopher and rit.

Its been such a long road, and finally, this day has come.

Had lunch with Glo today at Thai Express in the new Tampines One shopping centre. The restaurant occupies two stories of shop space and the food was really quite good! I had the soft shell crab rice and glo had the beef phad thai. Looking forward to more good stuff at tampines one!

As days go by...
Sunday, August 09, 2009
Sunday, August 09, 2009

I have been jammed packed with events the past few weeks:

-getting settled with my new choirs
-preparing for the Temasek poly choir concert
-settling convocation matters
-rehearsing with orchestra for the Bhso concert in sept
-practising for solo recital in october
-preparing dv choir for their official debut
-squeezing time for driving practicals!
-meeting up with the organisers for my latest commissioned works including the 2010 temasek symphony

Its been a crazy few weeks, and my guess is its gonna continue being like this for the next 2 months!

In many ways i am excited and eager to know the final outcome of many of my engagements but on the other hand there is the undeniable and sometimes, almost overwhelming sense of anxiousness.

So much seems to be piling up and i'm definitely looking forward to the many more engagements and concerts which are to come. Not to mention the overseas trips I am planning for my choirs.

Though the NAFA BA days are over, i consider it a great stepping stone, and have never looked back since. I will always be grateful to my mentors and the many lecturers who have guided me through my days in school, and taught me that at the end of the day, it is your work and performance in the outside world that really determines your success or failure after graduation- not the grades you get in school nor the amount of money or the help you pay to get your work done.

Sometimes I feel the big question we all have to ask ourselves is what we really want in life instead of blindly aiming for "A's" in school and end up leading laid back uninspiring lives without knowledge of a future and simply hoping that somehow life might get better with a shady but unsure glimmer of hope.

On the other hand, my 4 closest friends will too be moving on to their next phase of life in university. Lee and Ron are starting uni the coming week and Mark is going to ISKL. Dearest Joan is going to Royal Welsh. Truthfully, sometimes i just find it all a little hard to accept- the irony... or coincidence?!... of my four closest friends beginning their new journeys all at once! ...and whenever i return in thought, its only to find myself lost in the many questions i ask myself, without an answer to how my days are gonna be without them being around as often as now.

Though I'm really excited for them, I sometimes know that deep down inside there is just that yearning to keep the present as it is; and sometimes even a sense of obligation to let them know I'll always be there for them.

I have been trying to find time to head down to KL to see joan before she departs for UK... but to no avail. My schedule doesn't permit. And now I'm wishing i have 48 hours in a day to do whatever i have to do. Because there is simply not enough time. I miss her. My lil brother mark started ISKL, and glad he's pushing on well..

Kie yins always been there recently, and am grateful for it. sometimes she makes me laugh so much it hurts. hah. woan juans birthday earlier this week made me remember how at home i am with the four of my conductor friends.

But as i move forward, i know there'll be greater and brighter days ahead...

TPChoir- "The Next Chapter"

One of my choirs had their annual concert yesterday evening. I had such a wonderful experience with my choristers i am sure all of us truly enjoyed it. We had a full house turn out and if that wasn't enough, the encores said it all.

Truly a night to remember...

Thoughts for my students
Tuesday, August 04, 2009
Tuesday, August 04, 2009

I just wished i could tell all my students how much i care for them as a mentor and a teacher, and how much i want to see every single one of them grow.

Scoldings aren't always the worst things in life. But a few take it too personally. And those who don't, they learn from their mistakes... and grow.

Remember, when we rehearse, we grow together. Scoldings are part of the learning process. And in time, we will see the light, and reap the fruits of our labour...
