I have been saving up quite a bit for a laptop to do my music arrangements and compositions. and finally after all the looking around and searching. i found this really fantastic deal for a great laptop.

Its an IBM Thinkpad T42. A brand new set from a warehouse sale i was introduced to. this ibm warehouse sale showcases the 2 to 3 month display sets of ibm laptops which have not been used before. The model that i was looking at is a new model but not the LATEST one.. but the specs are quite impressive. It had the new intel pentium centrino mobile technology, together with a 1000mb memory and a 80gb hard disk. it also has wireless and the cd writer can also play dvds!

what i really liked about it besides the brand, is that its really slim and portable, and i can bring it anywhere i go. moreover i use it for music notation and word processing only, so the specs from this comp seemed quite perfect.

Now comes the most fantastic part of the deal... the Price.

When i went to the warehouse there were many people, and i saw that there were only four sets of the T42 left. The boss told me that this model was getting snapped up extremely fast since the shipment of 20 sets came in last week. I checked out the online price of the lap top and it was selling for S$2999 in Dec 2006. I asked him how much it is going for and he quoted me...... S$1050 (without GST)!

The price was great, and i brought my friend who was a it expert to check on the laptop, and he said all the laptops were brand new and in great condition. so i got it. the boss let me choose between the four lap tops and my friend did another check. and after the almost 1 hour check i paid for it in cash and waLLA... my new IBM thinkpad! (and the boss waived the GST charges!)

totally love it man. just installed all my music programs and it runs fast on this laptop! i still couldnt believe i had such a great buy. and a day after i got the laptop, two other friends who saw it got the same model! haha... i think by now all should be sold out. wow... probably one of the best buys ever.

i just realised i havent blogged in a while. have been so busy with so many things i hardly have time to eat. (and my busy period is supposed to have passed!)

recently i have many performance and other music offers put up to me. one music company asked if i would want to judge a singing competition in sg which might be aired on tv in december. and then last week another music co. called to ask me if im interested to be lead singer and keyboardist in a band. i also have various requests for various appearances and gigs here and there. and there always the challenge of juggling between my classical and pop performances. (if you understand what i mean)

all the engagements pay very well. but the thing i'm starting to ask myself is 'do i really have the time to do all of these?' i realy dont think so. thats why i'm very selective of my performances and engagements recently.

i'm looking at ying's music score now. and i actualy realised that suan's and ying's music are so different, and yet so siimilar- different in the sense that their style of writing and approach is different; but similar in the sense that the feel and sensitivity of the music is just similarly just as sensational.

now im gonna have more stress with the lyrics huh ying. lol! by the way if you are a jolin tsai fan, you might wanna know that ying is one of the song writers in her album. dont play play eh...;)

the arts house will be featuring ying and suan in the month of october! you WOULD NOT want to miss it! and of course, you WOULD NOT want to miss mine on the 13th of August next month too. hah!

Adelina sent me a video of my impromptu singing at the arts housing living with daniel concert. hahaha. it was so hilarious! i forgotten some of the lyrics. but it was fun. and the song was a little low man.. i didnt realise i had to hunch so much while looking at the score. have fun watching, esp suan and ying. all thanks to them for sorta sabo-ing me. hahaha ;p

I received a call and a letter about the Asian Youth Music Competition, and I've been selected for the grand finals, which will be held at the Suntec Convention Hall.

Now comes the worrying part. The competition is between 12th to 14th August. And if it falls on the evening of 13th august, its gonna clash with my concert. Oh no...

I called the in-charge of the competition and she told me that all schedules for the competitors are scheduled by the organising country, China, and there is no way to change the time and date. I am really crossing my fingers it doesnt land on the 13th evening.

I took bus 975 to my work place today outside cck's Lot one shopping mall. And for the first time, I sat in this really OLD 975 bus! wow man. It really felt like i was sitting in some bus in the 1960s! The engine was noisy and the whole bus felt like it was going to fall apart. hah.. well, quite an interesting ride though. Couldnt help but snap a few shots of it. hah

I went with ting to watch transformers today. wow it was a really good show! all the action and the visual effects were superb! didn't know machines could express so much emotion.

Highly recommended. catch it before its too late!

the international piano festivals have just ended and i think the standard this year has really improved tremendously as compared to the last. it was a real pity i missed the japanese pianist's performance yesterday. i heard it was amazing.

now... i have to start working harder!
